Change of Hierarchs in the Diocese of the South

At the conclusion of the Diocesan Assembly, the retirement of His Eminence, Archbishop Alexander, took effect, and the Holy Synod of Bishops declared the See of Dallas and the South vacant.

By appointment of His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon, His Grace, Bishop Gerasim of Fort Worth, was named Locum Tenens of the Diocese, effective immediately. All clergy are to commemorate His Grace Bishop Gerasim accordingly at divine services.

His Grace was nominated as the candidate for Bishop of Dallas and the South, in accordance with the OCA Statute and DOS Bylaws. His name will now be forwarded to the Holy Synod of Bishops for canonical election.

The faithful are asked to keep Bishop Gerasim, the clergy and faithful of the Diocese, and the work of the Assembly in their prayers, that all may be accomplished in peace and good order under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
